Cahill pleads not guilty to charges

Former state treasurer Timothy P. Cahill proclaimed his innocence today, saying Attorney General Martha Coakley is using a “novel’’ legal theory “to make criminal what has long been legal.”

Cahill stood by as Parker issued a statement.
