Coastal communities prepare for high winds and potential flooding from winter storm

Communities along the South Coast were girding for a major storm expected to hit the state Friday night that could cause flooding and power outages as snow falls Saturday at what forecasters say could be a relentless pace.

Massachusetts is bracing for a snowstorm that could bring more than 20 inches to some communities in the eastern part of the state, though forecasters are cautioning that there is still some uncertainty about the storm’s track and intensity.
